The Client:

Creative Roots are a collective of creative practitioners covering painting, printmaking, mark making, creative writing and photography. They began by running creative workshops in prison settings but have expanded to include community engagement with drug and alcohol recovery groups.

We got involved because:

The organisation is run by Gareth Clark and Dar Rogers who have been clients of Webber Design for previous projects (and some later ones). They invited us to come on board as their graphic design partners to design and produce their Creative Roots Books (2 so far).

Creative Roots Book 2023

The client spent months delivering a series of creative workshops in HMP Parc Prison, Pontypridd. Hundreds of creative outcomes were generated including photography, painting, drawing, printmaking and creative writing.

Webber Design took delivery of the artwork in order to photograph it all in high quality art our studio, to be displayed in the resulting book. We then designed the cover and a few inside pages in a range of styles, then presented them to the client. Based on their feedback we tweaked the designs and designed the finished book containing over 170 pages of creative work.

Creative Roots Book 2025-26

Following on from the success of the first Creative Roots project, the team secured funding to repeat and expand the project for 202526. Here are some of the layouts from the 172 page book that we designed and produced for the Creative Roots.
